Posted by A verb is termed reflexive when it involves an action that someone is doing to oneself. German verbs can either be naturally reflexive, that means it is always known to be that way, or they can be artificially made to be reflexive. These verbs are usually accompanied in the infinite form by the reflexive pronoun “sich”. In the conjugated form, they are accompanied by other reflexive pronouns which can either be Accusative or Dative that are in sync with their respective subjects. These reflexive pronouns may not be literally translated in English except when they are artificially made from verbs that are non-reflexive. The reflexive pronouns are listed below.

The reflexive pronouns in German can have any of three positions;
- Second position, i.e after the subject in a subordinate clause.
- Third position, i.e after the conjugated verb in a sentence and after the subject in a yes/no question.
- Fourth position, i.e after the subject in a question-word question and after the subject in an adjunct or flexed sentence.
